Understanding the Red, Yellow, and Green run states

What each color indicates and how it reflects machine activity.

Overview:
Guidewheel uses a color-coded system to help you instantly understand machine status or run state. This system is designed to help operators, supervisors, and analysts quickly assess machine activity at a glance. Each color is based on the thresholds you set for runtime and idle power consumption.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Go to the Uptime page.

  2. Observe the color-coded bar for each machine:

    • Red: The machine is off or drawing negligible power (below the red threshold).

    • Yellow: The machine is powered on but not actively producing (idle state).

    • Green: The machine is actively running and producing (above the green threshold).

  3. To view or adjust the thresholds that define these zones, navigate to Settings > Configurations > Devices.

  4. Look for values that match typical idle and run levels for your machines, and adjust if runtime classifications look off.

Tips & Best Practices:

  • Periodically validate your thresholds with real machine behavior to ensure accurate classification.

  • Use recent power trends (via line graph) to help determine if thresholds need adjusting.

  • Avoid setting thresholds too close together—leave enough buffer to prevent misclassification.

Troubleshooting:

  • If your uptime bars don’t seem to match actual machine activity, check that the thresholds are accurately configured.
