In your uptime page, on each device you'll notice the two configurable thresholds - offline and idle.

When the machine's load is below the offline threshold (red section), we assume the state of the machine is "offline."

When the machine's load is between the idle threshold and the offline threshold (yellow section), we assume the machine is "idle."

When the machine's load is above idle (green section), we assume it is loaded and running.
