How to use this template

Download the Tag Mapping.xlsx template and follow the instructions below.

Purpose

This template will help you map tags by device and device lists so you can easily create a filtered tag list for each of your devices. Once you've created the filtered tag list, the Guidewheel team will help configure these changes in the system.

What are the benefits of filtering tags?

Filtering tags by device or device list limits the number of tags shown, making it faster and easier for the person who is tagging to find and select the right tags. In addition to a better user experience, this also leads to more accurate data.

Who should create this mapping?

We recommend Admins do the mapping and share it with your Guidewheel contact - this could be your Customer Success Manager or Technical Account Manager. When in doubt, share it with [email protected].

What happens if I do not assign tags to a Device or Device List?

By default, all tags will be shown.

Should I map all of my machines?

No. Only map the ones for which you'd like to limit the tags available. By default, if a Device or Device List is not mapped, all tags will be shown.

Steps

1. In the purple tabs, paste the names of your devices, tags, and device lists. You can find the names by going into Guidewheel settings for:

  • Devices (machine names)

  • Tags

  • Device Lists

2. Map the tags with Devices or Device Lists in the yellow tabs by checking the boxes.

3. Share this document with your Customer Success Manager who will configure these changes in the system for you.
