Guidewheel's Production page can be used in multiple ways to improve efficiency and save money.

Understanding team efficiency

In daily or weekly meetings, reviewing Production data by shift and machine can be a helpful way to align the team around efficiency improvements. When you select just one machine from the drop-down menu at the top, you can see both Production and Energy Intensity displayed at once, for any date range you select.

For example, what shift tends to have the greatest efficiency? What machines tend to run most efficiently? Setting team goals and/or having team members who have shown savings share their tips can also boost morale.

You can also download production and energy intensity data to sort by product/SKU, by manager, or by machine to see which use the most energy. Many factories use this data from Guidewheel to assist in product costing and projections.

Understanding product efficiency

Review energy intensity daily by shift and machine to identify variance in efficiency for a given product and level of production. This information can guide targets for efficiency and cost reduction for particular products. The Guidewheel team can also run this analysis for you if you’d like.

Understanding machine efficiency

Similarly, Guidewheel's Production tracking can help identify which machines are on average more efficient at producing a given product, so you can use the more efficient machines when operations allow. Guidewheel can also run these numbers for you, and calculate the savings potential from shifting production to the more efficient machines.

Additionally, factories have used Guidewheel's Production feature to identify optimal loading and running patterns for specific machine types. By identifying the most efficient shifts and using Diagnostics to see the details of those shifts, you can identify the most efficient loading or running patterns and establish these as standard procedures, and use Guidewheel Alerts to intervene if they are not followed.
