Device groups can help you track energy consumption easily

The purpose of the groups feature in Guidewheel is to allow you to:

  1. Get a sense of energy consumption used by a factory section or group of machines that serve a similar purpose, e.g. compressors connected to a common Compressed Air network

  2. Accurately calculate energy consumption across several machines that work together to create a particular product

  3. Identify total energy generated at any one time when there are multiple sources e.g KPLC grid and solar

  4. Track non-metered consumption

Once groups are created, they can then be used to track the efficiency of:

  • A factory section or a group of machines

  • Non-metered production loads

To create groups, go to the settings page and locate the groups table.

With the pop-up that appears, create a customized group name and check the devices to add. Save once complete.

Is Negative
If you check "is negative," the consumption of that device will be subtracted from the others (rather than added).

For example, if you wanted to track the energy consumption by non-metered devices, you would need the total energy generated by the source and deduct all energy already metered. In this case:

  1. Select all devices

  2. Select "is negative" for the metered once

  3. Create a nickname for the group

  4. Save the group

When you go back to Guidewheel Calculations or Production sections, you can now start tracking energy consumption for any group you create.
