To reduce peak from machine startups:

  1. Use Guidewheel Diagnostics to identify peak startup times so you can stagger the startup of individual machines during those periods. For example, you can set up alerts to warn you or machine operators when kVA is higher than usual so they can hold off on starting additional machines during that time.

  2. Use Guidewheel peak kVA Calculations to test impact of startup speed on peak, and dig into the details on individual tests using Diagnostics.

  3. Soft-starters may be useful with some motors. For example, soft starters on pumps can help avoid pressure surges. You can use Guidewheel to determine the impact a soft-starter has on reducing peak over and above manual management to calculate the ROI on these investments.
